So in class, we spent the first thirty minutes of class talking about Harry Potter. However, I did not include myself in the conversation about Harry Potter because I know little about the movies and books. I'm embaressed to say I have never read a full Harry Potter book nor have I seen many of the movies. I have absolutely no idea what is going on so therefore, I did not have much to say about the topic. Some may be in shock and others may be appalled by the news, but I personally have never had much interest in Harry Potter. Maybe some one could change my mind some day but as of right now my opinion is settled.
I do not understand what is so great about Harry Potter in general. Can someone tell me? He is magical and he goes to a magical school. When I watch some of the movies I personally get freaked out by some of the characters and events taking place in the movie. I admit, the idea of Harry Potter is creative and different but alittle too different for my liking. Maybe if I had read the books I would be more interested in it today.
So I am hoping because I wrote this blog that my questions about Harry Potter will finally be answered. I need someone to prove to me that Harry Potter is really as great as it is made out to be. From what I heard in class, there are several people who are quite fond of the stories. However, everyone has their own opinion and some could have the same feeling about Harry Potter as I do. So for the people with similar opinions as me, I am speaking out for them as well.
haha i dont like harry poter that much either. my second grade teacher tried to force me to read one of the books i didnt and never really got interested in the 1st book so i never finished it. i watched some of the movies but in a random order so i had no idea what was going on. i dont like malfoy i can tell u that and my brother read them all and tells me that the really cool wizard i think dumbledor dies. he had a cool beared now theres no point in the movies.
ReplyDeletei like the story, not really the characters, its just the "different world" concept that intrigues me, while the cinematic of the movie, the beautiful places and bizarre plots, i like all that, but just as much as most movies i watch.

Just imagine a normal persons life where everything goes wrong until he's 11. Sounds PRETTY boring right? Okay, now turn that MAGICAL! Isn't that so much better? I may not be any help in convincing you to read/watch anything Harry Potter related but I can tell you that I personally enjoy them. I've only read the first three books and they are pretty fun. I'm not OBSESSED but I'm just trying to better my education by reading often so why not read Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a series that is essentially about the ongoings of a British preteen/teenage wizard as well as his fight against his nemesis (who is an evil wizard), although that in itself is a massively understated explanation of the series. Overall, I think that it's a decent read over vacation, although it can sometimes run a bit dull or slow.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Claryssa. I did not jump on the Harry Potter train until much later than everyone else. The craze has been going on for quite a while by now, and I personally read the first three books in the series last year for the first time. I read them for the same reason that I read Twighlight- to see what all the hype was about. I was definitely more impressed with Harry Potter than I was with Twighlight. I think the way that J.K. Rowling writes is charming and engaging. Was it the best thing I had ever read? Not by a long shot. But it is still an excellent series, and anything that can get kids into reading is a great thing in my book.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to read the final four books of the series, because I am told that they only keep getting better and more complex.
